Hope Times Newspaper on Friday, 27th December 2025, successfully hosted a Dinner and Awards Night to celebrate excellence in journalism and media practice, the event brought together media practitioners, key stakeholders, educators, and invited guests from across the country.
The highlight of the evening was a keynote address delivered by the guest speaker, Mr. Sheku Putka Kamara, who spoke on the topic the Role of Journalists in upholding Professionalism in Media Practice, in his presentation, Mr. Kamara emphasized the responsibility of journalists to maintain ethical standards, accuracy, and integrity in reporting, he encouraged media professionals to uphold truth, fairness, and accountability in order to strengthen public trust in the media.
According to Mr. Kamara, professionalism in journalism remains essential in promoting democracy, social development, and national unity, he further urged journalists to resist misinformation and practice responsible reporting, especially in the digital age.
The programme was well attended by representatives from various media institutions, key stakeholders, and teachers, who all commended Hope Times for organizing an event that promotes media excellence and professional growth.The event was proudly sponsored by Rokel Commercial Bank, whose support contributed significantly to the success of the occasion. Representatives of the bank reiterated their commitment to supporting initiatives that promote education, transparency, and responsible communication.
The dinner and awards night ended on a high note, with participants expressing appreciation to Hope Times Newspaper for a job well done. During the programme the CEO of Hope Times newspaper in Sierra Leone, Mr. Yusif Ibrahim Kamara a dedicated and hardworking journalist also shed light on how hope times came in to existence, the programme ended by given Certificate of merit to all deserving participants and other reporters of Hope Times newspaper.
