The Regional Police Commander of Freetown-East, AIG Francis Brima Meinday, alongside his deputy, ACP Patrick Lahai Dumbuya, conducted multiple engagement sessions with motorbike riders, tricycle (Kekeh) operators, and street traders as part of the Operation Push Back Awareness Campaign. July 16, 2025, the initiative seeks to restore order and ensure unobstructed movement along Up-Gun and Kissy Road areas.
AIG Meinday stressed the importance of discipline and adherence to public space regulations, as the campaign prepares to clear roadways and footpaths of obstructions.
ACP Dumbuya underscored the risks of lawlessness and indiscipline, urging participants to comply with traffic laws. He highlighted that reckless driving and illegal parking at junctions and pedestrian paths endanger lives and contribute to urban disorder.
During a walk along Kissy Road, the commanders educated traders on the need to keep streets and pedestrian pathways clear to reduce congestion and prevent accidents. They encouraged businesses to operate from designated areas to enhance safety and order.
AIG Meinday clarified that the campaign aims to foster partnerships for a safer, cleaner environment, not to target any specific group.
Participants expressed appreciation for the dialogue and pledged to spread the campaign’s message within their communities.
This effort aligns with the Sierra Leone Police’s community policing strategy, emphasizing engagement, education, and cooperation for effective law enforcement.
