Renowned Journalist and Lecturer, Sheku Putka Kamara, has extended his support to Bullom Stars Football Club, the Premier League team representing Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, with a generous donation of Ten Thousand New Leones (NLe 10,000).
As a proud indigene of Lungi, Kamara stated that his decision to support the team was driven by the financial constraints the club is facing. He emphasized the importance of strategic management and financial stability in ensuring the success of a football team, highlighting that while skill, luck, and strength are crucial in football, sustainability requires proper financial support. “Lungi is my home, and I owe it to myself and my people to give back,” he remarked.
Since the team’s promotion to the Leone Rock Premier League, there has been an increasing call for support from stakeholders within the chiefdom. However, many of these appeals have gone unanswered. Kamara urged his fellow indigenes to take ownership of their community and invest in initiatives that promote development. He stressed that contributing to the football club was a meaningful way to support the chiefdom, adding, “This is the only place that some of us truly call home, and we must be willing to sacrifice a little more for its growth.”
Reports indicate that the NLe 10,000 donation will be disbursed in instalments, with Kamara committing to provide NLe 1,000 per month for the next 10 months, starting in April 2025. He described this approach as a strategic commitment and expressed his willingness to further his support in the future. “Let’s see how things go. I look forward to advancing and redoubling these efforts in the not-too-distant future,” he said.
News of the donation has been met with widespread appreciation from community members, who have praised Kamara for his generosity and dedication to giving back. Many view his contribution as a positive step in strengthening the club and promoting football in Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom. His gesture is seen as an inspiring call to action for others to step up and support local initiatives that benefit the community.
