President Julius Maada Bio delivered a message of peace to hundreds of Muslims in Bo, southern Sierra Leone; stressing that Islam embraces peace and called on all Muslims to embody the principles of Islam.

The President was delivering a speech as the guest speaker on Friday, February 9th, 2024, during the opening of the 59th edition of the Jalsa Salana, organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslims Jamaat Sierra Leone under the theme “Islam Means Peace”.

The head of state highlighted the importance of the annual gathering, noting the gathering has been promoting spiritual growth, peace and oneness among members of the Islamic faith.

“This important Muslim gathering has become a bastion for promoting spiritual growth; and it has been a platform for religious discourse,” the President noted.

The President admonished the congregation on sustaining the basic beliefs of Islam as captured by the theme of the program, especially in national and interpersonal relationships.

President Bio used the occasion to extend his gratitude to the Ahmadis for their significant contribution towards the progress and development of the country, symbolizing the values of peace, justice and charity.

He commended the humanitarian and spiritual gestures contributed so far by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama‘at for over one hundred years of operating in Sierra Leone while reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting the Ahmadiyya mission and in promoting the mission’s vision in the country.
