President Julius Maada Bio has delivered a compelling address at the World Without Hunger Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he highlighted Sierra Leone’s commitment to combating hunger and improving food security across Africa. The conference, which took place on November 5th to 7th gathered global leaders, policymakers, and humanitarian organizations with the unified goal of ending hunger and ensuring sustainable food systems worldwide.

President Julius Maada Bio represented Sierra Leone, drawing attention to the country’s efforts in advancing agricultural development and food security. Leaders from various nations and prominent international organizations, such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations, also participated.

The World Without Hunger Conference serves as a global forum to address hunger and food insecurity challenges. President Bio’s address emphasized the role of African countries in driving sustainable agricultural practices, the need for partnerships, and the importance of resilience against climate-induced food shortages.

President Bio underscored the urgency of tackling hunger, stating that food security is a critical component of Sierra Leone’s national agenda and aligning with the global Sustainable Development Goals. He stressed that by addressing hunger, nations could achieve greater stability, reduce poverty, and improve health outcomes.

Sierra Leone’s efforts, as highlighted by President Bio, involve strengthening local agriculture through investments, training programs, and strategic partnerships with international agencies. He also mentioned Sierra Leone’s focus on empowering rural farmers and promoting climate-smart agriculture as essential steps toward sustainable food security.

In his closing remarks, President Bio urged fellow African leaders to remain united in the fight against hunger, emphasizing the need for innovative solutions, sustainable funding, and a collective commitment to ending hunger within this generation.
