His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has today 31st January 2024, opens the extraordinary session of the fifth legislature of the ECOWAS Parliament at the Bintumani conference center in Freetown.

President Bio commended Hon Sidie Mohamed Tunis for his commitment towards bringing the ECOWAS Parliament closer to the people through integration of valuable projects which aimed at strengthening the interests of people in the subregion.

He added that Speaker Tunis has done Sierra Leone and the region proud by accomplishing vital initiatives which have created significant results in the history of the ECOWAS Parliament.

“My endorsement for Hon Sidie Mohamed Tunis to serve as speaker of ECOWAS Parliament has yielded great dividends not only for Sierra Leone but as the subregion as well. We are appreciated him for making the parliament visible to people,” President Bio affirmed.

As a lawmaker Hon Tunis has successfully demonstrated a strong leadership role by tackling issues surrounding countries in the Subregion, through promoting gender equality, supporting trade deals which are in the best interests of the subregion.
