The 2025 Portafa League officially kicked off on Friday, 12th September, at the School Yard Field, marking the start of an eagerly awaited football season. The ceremonial kickoff was led by the district’s Lieutenant Colonel, Mr. Daniel Manga Kamara, alongside his captain, Rev. Bankole Gibson, both celebrated figures in community leadership and sports promotion.
The opening fixture featured a high-energy showdown between Botany FC and New England FC, two of the league’s most competitive teams with passionate fan bases. Fans were treated to an exhilarating match, as New England FC displayed superior skill and coordination, ultimately securing a 4–1 victory over Botany FC.
The excitement in the stadium was palpable, with supporters cheering every goal and play, creating an electric atmosphere that set the tone for the season ahead. Chairman Manga’s ceremonial kickoff added flair and optimism, signaling a promising start to the league.
The Portafa League promises to deliver a season filled with competitive matches, showcasing local talent and uniting the community through the love of football. Organizers are optimistic that this year’s edition will not only entertain fans but also foster camaraderie and sportsmanship across the West District.
