Residents and road users along the Mile 91 to Magburaka highway have expressed deep frustration over the deplorable state of the road, which has become a major hazard to travellers. The stretch of road is riddled with potholes, and thick clouds of dust have contributed to numerous accidents, making transportation unsafe for both vehicles and motorbikes.

Speaking to Mohamed Kamara, a commercial bike rider, he lamented the poor road conditions, stating that they have led to frequent accidents and damage to their motorcycles. “The road is in a terrible state, and we are suffering. The potholes make riding very dangerous, and the dust affects our health. Many of us have lost income because our bikes keep breaking down,” he said.

Kamara also highlighted another challenge frequent police checkpoints along the route. He accused law enforcement officers of harassing bike riders instead of ensuring road safety. “Instead of helping to control traffic, the police checkpoints are only making things worse. We need the government and NGOs to come to our aid and fix this road,” he added.

Residents and road users are urgently calling on the government, relevant authorities, and non-governmental organizations to intervene and rehabilitate the road. Just few months ago when we saw a Bulldozer starting creeping and maintaining the road for safe travelling but it has also stopped. The lack of maintenance has made it nearly impassable, disrupting daily business activities and endangering lives.

A frequent traveller Ibrahim Mohamed Kamara also shed light on the same issue. And call on the attention of the government to come to their aid and help solve this pressing issue and also put a stop to the police officer who are execution money from Bike Riders.

As accidents continue to rise, stakeholders are urged to take immediate action to address this growing concern before more lives are lost.
