P'Ment DG Concludes UK

Mrs. Finda Findosia Fraser, the Director General of the Sierra Leone Parliament, has successfully completed the UK Parliamentary Study Programme (UKPSP) 2024, from 28th October to 2nd November 2024, in UK Parliament, in London.

The  prestigious programme, was organized by the Inter-parliamentary Relations Office (IPRO) at the House of Commons, Westminster, with purpose of providing Parliamentary trainings for Senior Parliamentary officials from eight countries, including Sierra Leone in order  to better enhance their understanding on parliamentary procedures and corporate issues.

The UKPSP 2024 was a hybrid programme running from January to November 2024. It involved a series of five monthly online sessions held between January and May, followed by a week-long in-person visit to the UK Parliament in London from October 28 to November 2, 2024. The programme’s key focus areas include:

1. Introduction to the UK Parliament
2. Supporting House of Commons proceedings
3. Parliamentary scrutiny
4. Engagement and outreach
5. Parliamentary culture

During the in-person sessions, Mrs. Fraser presented on “The cultural practices of the Sierra Leone Parliament”, contributing to cross-cultural exchanges among participants from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Ireland, and Mongolia.

The programme culminated in a certificate presentation ceremony, where Mrs Fraser was awarded a certificate in procedural and corporate issues.
Her participation not only highlighted the collaborative spirit of global legislative bodies but also strengthened professional ties between the Sierra Leone Parliament and other international counterparts.

The IPRO, in collaboration with colleagues from both the House of Commons and House of Lords, expressed gratitude to all participants for their engagement, making the UKPSP 2024 a significant success.
This achievement marks a notable milestone in Mrs. Fraser’s career and reflects Sierra Leone’s commitment to fostering international parliamentary cooperation.
