Magistrate Sahr Kekura awaiting judge
On April 30, 2025, Abubakar Bah, a 32-year-old plumber, and Jacob Vawai, a 32-year-old driver, made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown. The two men faced a single count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916, in connection with the alleged theft of a motorbike.
According to the particulars of the offense, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Sheriff Drive, Malama, Lumley, in Freetown’s Western Area, Bah and Vawai allegedly stole a blue TVS Star Sport motorbike, registration number AOJ 584, valued at 21,000 Leones, the property of Alie James.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, both pleaded not guilty.
Neither Bah nor Vawai was legally represented during the proceedings.
Magistrate Kekura granted bail to both accused persons in the sum of 50,000 Leones each, with the condition of providing one surety for the same amount. The sureties must be residents of Freetown and are required to present a national identity card verifying their address in the city. Bail approval is subject to the oversight of the Deputy Assistant Registrar. The matter was adjourned to May 6, 2025, for further hearing.
