In another development, Alfred Robert Mendegla, a petitioner of a just concluded paramount chieftaincy election in Juru-Gaura, Gaura Chiefdom, Kenema District, appeared at the High Court in Kenema for a petition case against Mohamed Sandi Koroma Gbatekaka who was declared winner of the said election. The election was conducted on February 10, 2024.

Alfred Robert Mendegla polled 467 votes while Mohamed Sandi Koroma Gbatekaka got (474) votes. The latter who polled the highest votes cast was declared winner of the election.

The High Court in Kenema was full to capacity with people from Gaura Chiefdom, Concerned citizens in Kenema and a battery of Legal Luminaries from Freetown, Bo and Kenema for the said case and other Felonious offences.

Justice Banks-Kamara admonished the supporters of both parties to return home peacefully and cause no harm to one another and that anyone who violates the law would face the consequences of the law. He told the supporters to have restrains until the matter is adjudicated by the court.

The case was adjourned to March 4hth, 2024 for hearing.
