Paramount Chief Dissolves Clique Groups in Kowa Chiefdom to Safeguard Peace

By Dadson A. Musa

Moyamba District, Sierra Leone response to rising concerns over violence and lawlessness among young people, authorities in Kowa Chiefdom, Moyamba District, have acted swiftly to dissolve two emerging clique groups identified as Rhemax Phamily and another unnamed faction.

Both groups were reportedly operating in Mofombo Section, engaging in activities deemed anti-social and potentially disruptive to community peace.

When summoned to clarify, Section Chief Joseph Kornoh denied any knowledge of the groups’ formation, stressing that they had never been officially registered or recognized by the section authority.

Acting on credible intelligence, Paramount Chief Amy Tator Kallon Tibbie (Mrs), together with her Chiefdom Speaker, Joseph George, summoned the leaders of both groups for questioning. Each was asked to explain the rationale behind their existence. However, according to the Paramount Chief, none of the explanations provided could justify the groups’ activities or align them with the chiefdom’s values.

Paramount Chief Tibbie emphasized that such cliques only undermine peace and development, warning that the chiefdom would not tolerate any group that promotes violence or lawlessness. She reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that young people are instead mobilized to support government efforts and community progress.

Community stakeholders, including youth leaders, were urged to work hand-in-hand with local authorities to prevent the resurgence of such groups in the future.
