Newly transferred officer in charge (O/C) Inspector Prince Barnard Jaygboi Kamara of the Baama police Post, Wandor chiefdom, on Friday, June 20, 2025, successfully concluded a day-long stakeholder and community engagement session, this initiative followed a courtesy visit to community health officers (CHOs) and Peripheral health Unit (PHU) staff in Baama and Konta Towns on June 18, 2025, aimed at fostering collaboration and addressing local security concerns.
The event united traditional leaders, youth representatives, women leaders, religious figures, and residents from across the town. Inspector Kamara, who took command earlier this month, stressed the importance of mutual trust, we protect life and property, but we need your partnership for lasting peace and development, he told attendees at the Konta Community centre town hall.
Chief Abdul Mambu hailed the meeting as a historic first for local policing, thanking O/C Kamara and SLP leadership for their collaborative approach. Key issues raised included petty theft, domestic violence, and fraud, which Kamara pledged to tackle with proactive policing, human rights respect, and regular dialogues.
Section chief Alhaji M. Kpulun of Gorama Mende chiefdom praised Kamara’s refreshing leadership, urging community support through information sharing. Kamara concluded with a pledge for ongoing engagement, supported by senior police officials and media representatives.
This outreach aligns with Inspector general William Fayia Sellu’s vision to transform the SLP from a force to a service, enhancing community policing in underserved rural chiefdoms. As residents embrace this new era, hope soars for a safer, inclusive future.
