NSA and Audit

The Senior Management of the National Sports Authority (NSA), led by its Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, engaged top officials of Audit Service Sierra Leone on Tuesday, 4th March 2025, to strike a new bond.

The meeting, held at the Audit Service Office, Freetown City Council Building, is part of new NSA’s governance structure and expansion strategies.

Chairing the meeting, Deputy Auditor General Aiah Gbondo Tugbawa said the Audit Service is not a witch-hunt institution. “We are here to assist MDAs with procedures relating to keeping financial records, procurement, and other operational areas for the benefit of the country,” he added.

Acting Auditor General Abdul Aziz stressed the need for improved communication between MDAs and the Audit Service.

“With effective communication, our work becomes simple during auditing. Our new approach as a supreme audit institution is not only to look at the financial records but also to look at the activities of MDAs, their challenges, and proffer recommendations where necessary,” he told the meeting.

On his part, NSA Boss Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai thanked Audit Service Sierra Leone for the engagement, appreciating the work of the auditors assigned to audit the NSA for the year 2023.

“The work of auditors will help shape the activities of the NSA, and we are always ready and willing to work with auditors. Working with the Audit Service is a major component of our job.

“Amid challenges such as finance, manpower, and capacity building among others, the NSA has reshaped itself in the last nine months for sports development in the country,” Dr. Abdulai said.
