The ongoing nationwide crackdown on the sale and use of harmful drugs has recorded another major success in the Kambia district, where a joint security operation has led to the arrest of two suspected drug dealers in possession of quantities of Kush and Cannabis Sativa.
The operation was carried out by a combined team of security forces under the leadership of CSP Mr. Sao Vandy Luc, Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Suliaman Kamokai, commanding officer of the 11 Infantry Battalion, and Mr. Sysveter Kpukumu, district coordinator of the office of National Security (ONS) in Kambia.
The coordinated raids, surveillance operations, and patrols, part of an intensified district-wide campaign against drug abuse and trafficking, targeted known hotspots and ghettos used for the sale and consumption of illegal substances, particularly Kush.
During a two-hour, thirty-minute joint patrol and raid conducted on Thursday, 6th November 2025, the security team, led by Inspector Nelson Jabba and Lieutenant Ibrahim Kamara, apprehended two notorious drug dealers in separate locations within Kambia Township.
According to police reports, the first suspect, Kai Kamara, aged 31, of Masama Road, Kambia 2, was found in possession of 13 clinical plastics containing suspected Kush, along with a quantity of unprocessed dried green leaves believed to be the same substance, officers also discovered two pairs of long trousers resembling military attire among his possessions.
The second suspect, Salamatu Kamara, a 58-year-old woman also residing on Masama Road, was found with fifteen (15) wraps of dried green leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. She reportedly confessed to selling the substance as her primary means of livelihood.
Both suspects are currently in protective police custody at the Kambia Police Divisional Headquarters, where they are assisting investigators, the confiscated items have been handed over to the Officer Commanding, transnational organized crime Unit (OC TOCU) for safekeeping as investigations continue.
Security authorities in Kambia have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying joint operations to curb the spread and abuse of illicit substances in the district, warning that anyone involved in the sale or distribution of harmful drugs will face the full force of the law.
