Abdulrahman Jalloh an Accused person for a murder case of Juldeh Jalloh has on Friday, January 31, 2025 granted bail Four Hundred Thousand New Leones (NLe 400,000) surety in like Sum. Surety must be a property owner in Kenema and the property should be situated in the City with documentation. The matter was adjourned to February 14, 2025.

It could be recalled that Abdulrahman Jalloh a business Man of Burma 3 Section in Kenema and Fatima Sow of New England, Nyandeyama Section in Kenema on August 17, 2024 at New England, Nyandeyama Section in Kenema, conspired with unknown persons to commit felony to wit murder. On the aforementioned date and place, the   second accused person, Abdulrahman Jalloh allegedly murdered Juldeh Jalloh. Fatima Sow was charged to Court on one count of conspiracy whilst Abdulrahman Jalloh was charged for Conspiracy and Murder.

No plea was taken and the two accused persons were remanded at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre in Kenema. Before the adjournment date on Friday, February 2, 2025, Lawyer Victor Ansumana, Defence Counsel for Abdulrahman Jalloh, applied for bail. Mr. Ansumana Esq. informed the court about the poor health condition of his client. According to him, his client used to be physically fit but the colours of his eyes are pale, abdominal problem which has led to his physical unfitness, he lamented. Lawyer Ansumana also pleaded with the court that his client would be available at all times when the need arises.” Granting him bail doesn’t mean that the matter has ended.’ the accused has wives and five children in Kenema.” He cannot run away from his family and Shop. He has credible Surety who will make him available to the court.” It’s better to keep an accused in custody when the person is in good health condition than an accused’s demise before the matter is concluded”-Lawyer Ansumana lamented.

According to the state Counsel, the issue of bail is in the jurisdiction of the Judge even if they speak all the Laws, he said, they should just pray that whatever decisions the Judge takes, to be in the interest of Justice. He also said that he was in court to represent the state whilst his learned colleague was in court representing the accused person in the Dock.

Before bail was granted to the accused, Justice Abubakarr Sannoh told the court that the Lower Court does not have the power to grant bail on Murder cases but in the High Court adding that he is a respecter of any law. Having heard from the defence counsel’s plead mitigation of the accused person based on medical condition with medical report, and that the accused is an established business man with Family in Kenema that he cannot run away, Justice Abubakarr Sannoh granted bail to the accused person NLe 400,000 sureties in like Sum. Surety must be a property owner and the property should be situated in Kenema with documentation.
