The newly appointed Regional Police Commander South, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Andrew M. Kamara, has issued a stern warning to officers, declaring that indiscipline and complacency will not be tolerated under his leadership.
During his inaugural meeting with divisional and unit heads at the Regional Police Headquarters South, AIG Kamara emphasized discipline, teamwork, and renewed commitment as the cornerstones of his administration, the session was moderated by Deputy Regional Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Fatmata Jebeh Daboh Kamara.
I do not need lazy police officers, what we need is teamwork and total commitment. No commander can succeed without working as a team,” AIG Kamara stressed, underscoring the importance of protecting the Sierra Leone Police’s reputation. He called for intelligence-sharing, loyalty to the chain of command, and stronger community-oriented policing.
Local Unit Commanders from Bo East and Bo West, along with other heads of units, presented operational briefings and pledged their full cooperation to the new regional commander. In response, AIG Kamara urged officers to serve with integrity, honesty, and a clear conscience, reminding them that the people of the Southern Region deserve peace and security.
Addressing crime, particularly armed robbery, he was unequivocal, I don’t want to hear about any armed robbery issues in this region. Directives from the Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu, must be fully implemented. Let us work as one family to protect the good image of this institution.
The meeting, marking AIG Kamara’s first major engagement in the South, reflects his determination to build a disciplined, united, and proactive police force. Observers say his message signals a firm but purposeful leadership style aimed at restoring public trust and ensuring stability across the region.
