Emmanuel Amara, aged 25, residing at Forniko Section in Kenema has been sentenced to twelve years (12yrs) Imprisonment by the High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Francis Banks-Kamara of the High Court in Kenema for housebreaking larceny contrary to Sec 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the prosecution, the Accused on July 13, 2023 at Lekpetieh Layout in Kenema, broke and entered the dwelling house of Mustapha Dugbawith intent to steal and stole eight (8) assorted coloured jeans valued One Thousand and Ninety New Leones ( NLe 1,090/00), two assorted coloured lace rappel valued Three Hundred and Fifty New Leones (NLe 350/00), two assorted coloured Lacoste valued Two Hundred and Twenty New Leones (NLe 220/00), one cotton rappel valued One hundred and Fifty New Leones (NLe 150/00) and four associated coloured Female cloth valued Three Hundred and Seventy-Five New Leones (NLe 375/00) all to the total valued of Two Thousand, One Hundred and Seventy-Five New Leones (NLe 2,175/00) properties of Mustapha Dugba.
The Accused pleaded guilty and begged for mercy as he was sentenced to twelve years (12yrs) Imprisonment.
The matter was prosecuted by Mathew.P.M. Lappia, State Counsel and Customary Law Officer in Kenema District whilst the Accused was represented by Defence Counsel, Patrick Kamara of Legal Aid Board for Kenema District.
In another News, Justice Banks-Kamara on January 16, 2024, ordered the Court Registrar to prepare Bench warrant for two Sureties, Alieu Sam Gbondo and Abibatu Demby all of No.2 Gbetuwa Street, Nyandeyama in Kenema.
To the hearing of the audience in court, the Judge communicated to Alieu Sam Gbondo as a reminder of their appearance in court for a murder related matter.
The Surety was not polite in his response and then the Judge, in an angry mood, ordered the arrest of the two sureties.
The matter was adjourned to January 30, 2024.
