Justice Francis Banks-Kamara of the High Court in Kenema has Sentenced one Sheku Kanneh a Miner of Nyagbebu Village, Small-Bo Chiefdom Kenema District to Eleven years (11yrs.) Imprisonment for wounding with intent. The Accused was charged to Court for wounding with intent contrary to Sec.18 of the Offences against the Persons Act of 1861.
According to prosecution, Sheku Kanneh on January 31, 2024 at Small-Bo Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District in the Eastern province of the Republic of Sierra Leone, wounded Mohamed Vakie with intent to do him grievous bodily harm. He pleaded guilty and begged for mercy.
The Accused was Sentenced to 11years imprisonment. Mathew. P.M.Lappia the State Counsel and Customary Law Officer Prosecuted the matter whilst the Accused Person was represented by Patrick Kamara of Legal Aid Board in Kenema.
In another development, Brima Njojo of Lumbebu Section in Kenema arraigned before Magistrate Sheka Kamara of Magistrate Court No.1 in Kenema for obtaining Money by false pretenses Contrary to Sec.32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The Accused, Brima Njojo on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Heigbema Layout in Kenema with intent to defraud, obtain the Sum of Nine hundred New Leones (NLe 900/00) from Theresa Mohamed by falsely pretending that he has Single room for rent knowing same to be falsed. He was sentenced to Two Months Imprisonment (2months).
The matter was prosecuted by Police Sergeant, 4654 Bakarr Watta attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department at the Kenema Police Division.
