Magistrate Court No. 2 in Kenema, presided over by Resident Magistrate Wilbri Hamida M. John, has committed Mohamed Kamara, a blacksmith and farmer from Kpandemie village, Koya Chiefdom, Kenema District, to the high court for trial.
Kamara faces multiple charges, including sexual penetration of a child under Section 19 of the sexual offences Act No. 12 of 2012, as amended by Section 4(a)(i) of the sexual offences’ amendment Act No. 8 of 2019; sexual touching of a child; meeting a child for sexual purposes; wounding with intent to murder; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm under Section 46 of the offences against the Persons Act of 1861.
The prosecution alleged that on Monday, March 24, 2025, in a bush between Joi Town and Kpandemie village, Koya Chiefdom, Kamara sexually penetrated a 16-year-old girl, touched her in a sexual manner, wounded her with intent to murder, and assaulted her, causing actual bodily harm. No plea was taken.
Magistrate John, after reviewing the prosecution’s evidence, ruled that sufficient grounds exist to proceed, the prosecution has established enough evidence to put the accused on trial, she stated, committing Kamara to the high court.
