The Principal Magistrate in Kenema, Hadiru Daboh of Magistrate Court No. 1, has committed 24-year-old Amara Gamanga, resident of No. 4 Salia Street, Kenema, to the High Court for house-breaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to court records, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, the accused allegedly broke into the dwelling of Foday Gamanga at No. 4 Salia Street, Kenema City, and stole the following items, 1 JSK Generator valued at NLe 14,000, 1 JSK Air Conditioner valued at NLe 28,000, 4 toilet seats valued at NLe 4,500, 1 double wooden bed valued at NLe 3,000
4 pairs of crepe shoes valued at NLe 1,000,1 suitcase valued at NLe 600, 20 trousers valued at NLe 2,000, 6 door keys valued at NLe 3,000
The total value of the stolen items was NLe 61,700, all properties of Foday Gamanga.
No plea was taken from the accused, who was committed to stand trial at the High Court of Sierra Leone.
In delivering his ruling, Magistrate Hadiru Daboh stated that, after reviewing the prosecution evidence in its entirety, there was sufficient evidence to justify a High Court trial. He therefore ordered the committal of Amara Gamanga to the High Court.
The case was prosecuted by Police Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa, attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department at the Kenema Police Station. The accused appeared without legal representation.
