The Principal Magistrate of Kenema, Hadiru Daboh of Magistrate Court No. 1, has committed Amara Gamanga, 24, a resident of No. 4 Salia Street, Kenema, to the High Court for trial on charges of house-breaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to court records, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at No. 4 Salia Street in Kenema City, the accused broke into the dwelling of Foday Gamanga and stole the following items, one JSK Generator valued at NLe 14,000, one JSK Air Conditioner valued at NLe 28,000, four toilet seats valued at NLe 4,500

One double wooden bed valued at NLe 3,000, four pairs of crepe shoes valued at NLe 1,000, one suitcase valued at NLe 600, twenty trousers valued at NLe 2,000, six door keys valued at NLe 3,000

The total value of the stolen items amounted to NLe 61,700. No plea was recorded from the accused, and he was committed to the High Court for trial.

Delivering his ruling, Magistrate Hadiru Daboh stated that, after reviewing the prosecution’s evidence in its entirety, sufficient grounds existed to place the accused on trial. He therefore ordered Amara Gamanga to stand trial at the High Court of Sierra Leone.

The matter was prosecuted by Police Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa, attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department at the Kenema Police Station. Amara Gamanga appeared in court without legal representation.
