In a move to compliment government efforts in providing accessible and quality education in rural communities, Education for All and its partners handed over a newly constructed school building to the Malimba village in Koya Chiefdom, Port Loko District, on 27th November, 2023.
According to community people, having good school building, school materials and trained teachers in their community has been challenging.
Speaking in the ceremony, Martine Coppens, the founder of the organisation, said, after she returned to the country following the end of the country’s war, she made a personal commitment to boost education by building a school within the country, a commitment she has fulfilled.
She encouraged parents to send their children to school and give them a brighter future.
Victoria Nicol is the project coordinator. She told community people about the value of education in a society. She said that, early 2020, they went to Malimba Village to do feasibility studyfor the project.
Abass Kamara, head teacher of Malimba Primary School, appreciated the new development in their community. “On behalf of the community and the chiefdom as a whole I take this great opportunity to express thanks and appreciation to the donors and partners for such a wonderful work,” he said.
