In a national effort to promote human capital development, ninety Paramount Chiefs from the North and Northwest of the country assembled at the Bombali District Council hall on 25th November 2024. The paramount chiefs and several top government officials engaged in fruitful advocacy conversations relating to human capital development in Sierra Leone.
The inclusion of the paramount chiefs in the engagement is in recognition of the role of traditional leaders in raising awareness and supporting collaboration for local development. The HCD Plus two-day workshop examined critical issues pertaining to education, health care, food security, amongst others.
The aim of the engagement is to build advocacy capacities to deliver impactful services in the localities.
In his keynote address, Deputy Minister of Planning & Economic Development, , encouraged local leaders to be supportive in promoting the national development agenda of President Julius Maada Bio, saying human capital development is crucial to the current national development agenda – the Big Five Game Changers.
The Minister of Local Government and Community Affairs, Amb. Tamba Lamina; the Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie; Minister of State, North-Western Region; Presidential Advisor on HCD, the CEO of Human Capital Development Plus, devolved sector heads, district officers, university heads and host of other dignitaries also graced the occasion and made calls for collaboration in achieving government’s Big Five Game Changers.
