The Sierra Leone Local Content Agency has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CTC Mining Sierra Leone to enhance the participation of Sierra Leoneans in the company’s operations and expand opportunities for local businesses in the mining sector.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between senior officials of the Agency and representatives of the company, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to promoting local content and ensuring that Sierra Leoneans benefit more directly from mining activities.

Director General of the Agency, Fodeba Daboh, said the collaboration is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that the country’s natural resources contribute to national development. He emphasized that the engagement will encourage the inclusion of indigenous businesses in the company’s supply chain while also creating employment opportunities for Sierra Leoneans.

According to Daboh, local content should be viewed not only as a legal obligation but also as a strategic approach to empowering local enterprises, building national capacity, and supporting sustainable economic growth.

Representing the Managing Director of CTC Mining Sierra Leone, Dr. Koroma welcomed the partnership and commended the Agency for its continued efforts to promote local participation in key sectors of the economy.   He assured the Agency that the company remains committed to complying with local content regulations and working collaboratively to implement the terms of the agreement.

Both parties expressed optimism that the MOU will strengthen cooperation between the Agency and the mining company while creating new opportunities for local suppliers and service providers.

Observers say the partnership marks another step toward ensuring that mining investments in Sierra Leone contribute more significantly to national economic development and local business growth.
