USL – It looks like the drama at USL is just getting started? The other day, MTHE and TEC appeared to have installed a new Chancellor (whatever happens to the former). Mark you, MTHE had earlier purportedly dissolved the university court. Well, there was a strike which has now been called off, but what happens to the matriculation and proposed graduation ceremonies? We need not over state how late things have already turned out and yes, if President Bio does not step in as a matter of urgency, egos may continue to rise and mount at the detriment of the poor and powerless students. Remember, USL had earlier rejected the appointment of an acting VC&P, citing the 2021 universities’ act and that only one the three DVCs can be appointed as pro-vice chancellor who then could also act as VC&P until someone substantive is appointed. As it stands, it looks like MTHE is attempting to run the university when in actual fact, it is only mandated to carry-out some oversight functions. Where are we truly headed, I wonder.

Okada 1 – They are almost ubiquitous. Bike riding has become serious business, but some of our compatriots should take tidiness and treat same as a priority. If you are really into that business, it makes sense to be decent. Gush! I do not wish to talk about the situations and circumstances of some of the riders, but seriously, there’s some need for some improvements. If at all the business is good enough, they should handle it with care.

Ramadan is here again and we wish to thank the Almighty for the opportunity to witness and observe the blessed month. May He make things easier and better for us all, Aameen. In these hard times, may we all get the right provisions that will give us sustenance. May the month aid and restructure us to being better worshippers and may we remain steadfast in the pursuit of valuable humanistic goals. May the Almighty also help us to overcome trails and temptations and may He give us good ending on planet earth and the years after, Aameen.

Cleaning Freetown should be a priority for and to us all. We do not have to be lethargic with and on such responsibilities. That said, I feel like it has to start with individuals. Keeping places tidy is a virtue. Why then should we inculcate vices and make places very untidy? That is not a way to go. There’s decency in being tidy and yes, any attempt that questions cleaning one’s environment and or locality should strongly be negated. These are things we have been saying for ages. May common sense prevail, but yes, I look forward to times when there would be stringent penalties for defaulters. God help us!
