Dear Tech, you may have followed the matter between the House Speaker and Journalist Melvin Tejan Mansaray and I want to believe that as a respectable media house, Expo Media would have its take too, but here’s mine… Foremost, Rt Hon Speaker Thomas sounded too emotional to have taken that decision. His personalization and reaction would best be seen as TOO BOSSY and such things are not too rosy in democracies. As such, the move is more or less an attack on free speech and press freedom. This is not to say that there should be no room for professionalism and regulations. That said, Melvin should also learn to practice responsible and accurately placed watch-dog journalism. Sometimes, he is also too sentimental and one-sided in taking positions. There has to be a difference between being an attack-dog and a watch-dog. Media people should promote accountability and transparency, YES, but in doing so, accuracy, balance and clarity should not be treated with levity. In all of this, however, I wish to call on the Speaker and the House to reverse the decision of banning Melvin or any other Journalist from entering the Well. It is not and should never be a crime to be a journalist. On the other hand, practitioners should be able to clearly distinguish between facts and fictions plus opinions and validities. Let me end here and hope that the best decisions continue to take centre stage.

Tech, the other day, the NSA Boss was at the Stadium to do some assessments. The Chinese had given November of 2024 as some tentative handing over date, but surely, the date did not hold. Whatever happens, people look forward to seeing that the stadium is done and sorted this 2025. We all miss the games and entrainment that our only National Stadium used to give us. Gladly, once everything is fixed, the stadium will continue to be a source of revenue, but this time, we’d need more robust security plus manning the affairs of the entire facility. What used to obtain there should not be encouraged to continue. This is the only place that some of us call home. Let us therefore treat it with the respect and dignity required. I look forward to betterments!

Hello Tech, I need not remind you how government has a responsibility of making things easier and better for its people. The other day, we saw the proposed reduction on the price of rice. Whiles that is commendable, it is obvious that we need to do and see more. People deserve better. A lot of people in this country are struggling largely because of poverty plus not connections whatsoever. This is why it is very necessary for government to continue to lessen the burdens. That is some cool way to go. Let us hope that Bio and Team will see some greater justifications to do these positives. 2028 is not too far off. The time is now or never! APC is watching. Let us hope that they are taking notes and should they get back to SH, let us see more developments. The war of words should be minimized. APC and SLPP need to show more enviable actions in making things better for the people of this country.
