Magistrate Sheka Kamara of Magistrate Court No.1 in Kenema has, on June 21, 2024, sentenced one Alpha Bangura, a Pupil of 11 Kaililu Street, Kenema, for a jail term of two years or pay an alternative fine of two thousand, five hundred New Leones (NLe 2,500.00) after he was found in possession of twenty-two wraps of Kush.
Police personnel headed by PC 22722 Christopher J., on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Circular Road in Kenema, arrested Alpha Bangura.
The alleged drugs (Kush) were taken to the forensic toxicologist for examination, analysis and report which later proved to be positive.
Alpha Bangura was arrested and charged to court for prohibition of possession and use of drugs contrary to Section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act No.10 of 2008.
The accused pleaded guilty of the offence and pleaded for mercy. He was sent to jail at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre in Kenema or pay a fine of NLe 2,500.00.
The matter was prosecuted by Police Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department at the Kenema Police Division.
