Amy Tattor Tibbie Kallon - paramount chief elects

The people of Njama Kowa Chiefdom formerly NjamaQuee, Moyamba district went to the polls on 14th February 2024. The voting took place at the chiefdom court barry in the presence of dignitaries like southern region commissioner of ECSL, Edmond Alpha, western region commissioner, Umu Hawa Moseray, Provincial Sectary south, Moses Gbetu, NACSA Commissioner, Ernest Ndomahina and a host of other elected paramount chiefs. Speaking to this medium, the regent chief was delighted that his ” chiefdom is getting a paramount chief.”

Four candidates contested; John Tibbie, Nat Tibbie, William Quee and Amy Tattor Tibbie Kallon. Having declared the election opened, the Provincial Sectary south, Moses Gbetu assured of ” strong security.”  In an unprecedented atmosphere of calm, love and merry making the Tribal Authorities (T. As) who hold voting rights were admonished by the southern region commissioner, Edmond Alpha to ” hold on to their local tax receipts” which gives them power to vote. Their names, having been gazetted and published were called out one after the other. After the voting process, results were tallied and announced by the Provincial Sectary, Moses Gbetu. William Quee had 0 vote, John Tibbie had 1 vote, Nat Tibbie had 0 vote and Amy Tattor Tibbie Kallon had 132 votes which amounted to over 90% of the total valid votes cast.

Speaking to this medium, the Paramount Chief elect, Amy TattorTibbie Kallon, having been declared winner by the Provincial Sectary said she plans to ” improve on the agriculture in the chiefdom as it is the flagship program of government.”

Paramount Chief elect, Amy Tattor Tibbie Kallon was not deterred by the burning of her family house and shooting of her husband as she beamed with smile. She also highlighted the help she has given in the education sector by making sure pupils to go to other chiefdoms to take public exams. She also plans “to raise the standard of her chiefdom to a class A one.” The atmosphere was friendly and full of merry making and jubilation after the declaration of the winner.
