Hundreds of transport operators and community members gathered at the Kambia Government Hospital to mourn and receive the remains of three individuals two women and one man who tragically lost their lives in a motorbike accident, leaving families and the entire district in deep grief.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, 10th September 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., in Gbalamuya Village along the Kambia-Guinea Highway. According to reports, Abu Bakar Kamara, a driver from Masama Road, Kambia 2, was operating an unregistered IVECO van coming from the Gbalamuya Customs Border when he collided with an unregistered TVS motorbike operated by Murana Kamara of Gbeleh Chiefdom, who was transporting three adult female passengers from the Kambia Lorry Park.

The collision claimed the lives of Mariatu Kebe, 60, from Bamoi Luma Fatu Kamara, 38, from Royanka Village, Rokupr Murana Kamara, 45, from Makeneh Village, Dixon Chiefdom Another passenger, Kadiatu Kamara from Bamoi Luma, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Kambia Government Hospital.

The remains of the deceased were taken to the hospital for post-mortem examinations by a medical doctor before being released to their grieving families for a dignified burial.

The driver of the van is currently in police custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation. Both the van and motorbike have been secured as exhibits. The Kambia Police Division provided full security during the handover of the remains from the hospital mortuary to the families.

In response to the tragedy, the District Traffic Officer (DTO) and his team have implemented enhanced traffic measures, including regular patrols and surveillance along the highway, to prevent future accidents and improve road safety across the district.

The community is urged to remain vigilant on the roads and work together to prevent such tragedies. Let us continue to pray for the families affected by this devastating accident.
