Life Steps Organization handed over a newly constructed school building to Kamathoie Village in Tamiso Chiefdom, Koinodug District on 13th May, 2024.

According to community people, they have been struggling to have a school structure in that part of the country, saying no one came to their aid and that many people had been promising to construct a school building for them but to no avail expect for the intervention of the Life Steps Organization.

Speaking at the ceremony, Peter Bayuku Konteh, the coordinator of the organization, said one of the best ways to contribute to peace and development is by promoting education.

During the ceremony, Yusuf Kamara, the Deputy Director of Education Koinadugu District, handed over a consignment of teaching and learning materials to the school and encouraged parents to allow their children to go to school at all times.

Alhaji Jalloh, the Director of Education at Teaching Services Commission used the occasion to convey plans by the Commission to deploy to Kamathoi for the first time at least three trained and qualified teachers by the start of the next academic year in September 2024.

Fatmata Kamara, a parent, said that she is happy for the construction of the school building. “I have two children and grandchildren that are attending the school, but we have been suffering for too long under the previous makeshift structure, but with the support of the organization, I thank God Almighty,” she said.

Notwithstanding the efforts being made by the current administration to promote education, there still remain huge challenges due to lack of basic infrastructure, among other challenges.
