The Minister of Information and Civic Education Chernor Bah joined a distinguished panel of government officials at the Sierra Leone Innovation Showcase, a UNGA side event held in New York, to discuss the nation’s digital transformation under the theme “Driving Sustainable Development through Digital Transformation, a significant moment, Minister Bah emphasized on the approach to technological advancement.
Addressing the audience, Minister Bah declared, For us, digital transformation is about people first, technology second. He elaborated that through the Cotton Tree Civic Education Strategy, the government is integrating digital literacy, civic awareness, and open government practices across all facets of society. Central to this vision is the DigitizeSalone initiative, a commitment to ensure that Sierra Leone’s technological progress includes every citizen, leaving no one behind.
Minister Bah further noted, Our digital civic platforms are closing the divide between citizens and government, promoting transparency and dialogue. Together, we are crafting a future where technology not only fuels innovation
but also deepens trust, participation, and accountability.” This approach underscores a holistic strategy to leverage digital tools for societal benefit.
The Sierra Leone Innovation Showcase, organized by the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, provided a platform to highlight these efforts, reinforcing Sierra Leone’s ambition to lead in sustainable digital development on the global stage.
