Deputy Minister of Energy, Ing. Edmond Nonie, assured the public during an interview on AYV’s Wake Up Sierra Leone that major efforts are underway to improve the country’s power supply. Nonie stated that the government is refurbishing the engines of all power station machines to ensure they run efficiently, with the work expected to be completed within the next 90 days or more.
The initiative aims to bolster the energy sector, tackling the frequent power shortages that have long been a challenge for the nation. The refurbishment will focus on upgrading the machinery, enhancing their performance, and ensuring a more stable supply of electricity across the country.
“We are refurbishing the engines of every power station machine to get them running. In the next 90 days or more, we are assured to have a very improved and more stable power supply,” Nonie confirmed.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized the importance of reliable electricity in fostering national development, noting that consistent power supply is key to supporting local businesses, improving the standard of living for citizens, and stimulating economic growth.
Nonie urged the public to remain patient as the project is carried out, assuring them that these improvements would bring about long-term benefits. He added that this initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize the energy infrastructure and address past challenges that have hindered progress in the sector.
With this ambitious project in place, Sierra Leoneans are hopeful that the days of frequent power outages may soon be behind them, paving the way for a brighter and more reliable energy future.
