Amidu Karim – Leone Stars head coach

Leone Stars’ Gaffer Amidu Karim has said he is trying to build a healthy squad as they pull off the wheels to hit beyond the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

He made this remark immediately after Leone Stars’ resilient 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso on Monday in Bamako, Mali.

Daunted by the first half 2-0 bite, Coach Amidu said fear crawled up his spine as he developed bad feeling. “But I went into the locker room and calmed down our boys, assuring them that it was not over yet; we can still make it,” he maintained.

On the outing, Amidu Karim described the two matches (against Djibouti and Burkina Faso) as difficult. “Because we prepared for them, we were able to conquer,” he said.

From gloom repository to cheerful anthology, Monday night was full of expressions of all sorts. The 2-2 result changed social media comments from pile of disgusting outbursts to renewed pieces of veneration and compliments for a team all are well pleased with.

“Good performance from the whole team. Two matches, four points. Impressive!” Said one.

“Good results. Happy for the boys. They fought for it and made us proud,” declared another.

On the selection of Davies, one rightly confessed his defeat saying, “He’s displayed exceptional prowess and footballing leadership. I was one of those who were very critical of his selection but now he’s vindictive and proved us wrong. What a player!”

Of the five matches through which he has led Leone Stars, Amidu has won two, drawn three, and lost one, making his standing admirable as a home-grown coach.

Sierra Leone still sits 4th with five points and four matches to go.
