Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. William Fayia Sellu conducted a working visit to the Freetown East Region on Wednesday to enhance leadership engagement and evaluate ongoing police operations. He was accompanied by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Dr. John Martin Senesie, Director of Operations.

20 August 2025 The visit commenced with an inspection of the construction site for the new Freetown East Regional Police Headquarters at Ross Road. AIG Francis Meinday and Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Emmanuel Kpulun provided a comprehensive briefing on the facility’s layout and construction progress.

IGP Sellu then proceeded to Calaba Town Police Station, where he inspected detention cells, the Officer Commanding’s office, and other operational units.

At the Operational Support Division (OSD) base in Jui, Superintendent Jusu welcomed the delegation. The Police Chief observed the unit’s efforts in enforcing pedestrian use of the overhead crossing, a safety measure aimed at reducing road accidents.

The visit continued at the Waterloo Division, where IGP Sellu reviewed traffic management and special duty operations at Tombo Junction. He praised the officers for their effective coordination and responsiveness.

The tour concluded at Rokel Police Station, where IGP Sellu addressed officers, emphasizing the importance of professionalism, discipline, and dedication to public service.

IGP Sellu stated that the visit underscores his commitment to hands-on leadership, moving away from “armchair leadership” by directly engaging with frontline officers and assessing real-time policing operations.
