Recently, there have been several reports bordering on some anomalies in the Parliament of Sierra Leone as the House Clerk Paran Tarawalie has been on the spotlight for certain reported ‘non-procedural’ recruitment and mass sacking in the country’s lawmaking body. Hon. Paran Tarawalie is said to be in conflict of interest for reportedly employing his wife as human resource manager in parliament.

As a way to salvage the current seeming reputation crisis, House Speaker Dr. Abass Bundu on Thursday 25th January, 2024, tendered apology to the people of Sierra Leone on behalf of members of parliament.

The Speaker refuted claims of certain media houses and social media users of him and the Clerk being at loggerheads. He said: “Let it be stated here loud and clear that the Speaker and the Clerk of parliament are not at loggerheads with each other….”
