
Sierra Leone Brewery Limited (SLBL), owned by Heineken, has officially reached an agreement to transfer ownership to Sierra Bottling Group (SBG), a subsidiary of African Bottling Group Limited (ABG).
On Thursday 19 August 2025 the development follows a series of consultative meetings involving the Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security, the Sierra Leone Labour Congress, and the SLBL management. Discussions focused on finalizing the transition plan, ensuring payment of employees’ end-of-service benefits, and safeguarding industrial peace between management and the workforce.
Speaking to employees at the SLBL Canteen on Tuesday, 19 August, Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Mr. Swaray, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to guaranteeing a smooth transition that upholds fairness and social justice.
He assured workers that all legal entitlements provided for under the Employment Act will be fully respected and paid within the stipulated timeframe. He also encouraged employees to remain dedicated and cooperative throughout the process.
SLBL management representatives pledged their full compliance with labour laws and reiterated their commitment to supporting the transition responsibly and transparently.
