Health Care Transcends Politics

In an exclusive with Expo times newspaper, Dr. Yebu kargbo, Medical Superintendent Mobile Health Clinic has said that health care transcends politics especially when it is provided free to the citizens of a country and that the government of President Bio has been doing extremely well, noting the president and his government realized that ‘health is wealth’ and it was put into action, remarking her ministry take it seriously. “We are committed, the leadership is committed to making sure that every Sierra Leone regardless of where they are getting access to high quality and affordable health care” she underscored.

The interview was conducted on the marking international food day which was celebrated in Kailahun district eastern part of the country, the medical superintendent explained the importance them joining the celebration in that part of the country, saying the president deem it necessary to have invited them as they were expecting a lot of things as people gathered under the hot burning sun and that they treated lot of  emergencies, “normally because of the heat is very hot out the you people got affected by that and also because there is no food they get low blood sugar so the get affected and they passed out so we see people come with elevated high blood pressure”, she pointed out, noting they did not refer any of the patients while thanking her team.

Providing statistics, they Medical Superintendent remarked that before 4noon on the said date, they treated about fifty (50) people with ten (10) critical ones, stressing that all their treatment is free including the hospital form. According to Dr. Kargbo at mobile clinic they do physical examination, lab test, kidney function, liver function, including electrolyte test. She said they do all their test and release test results within fifteen minutes the patient get the result emphasizing that they also provide diagnostics treatment.

When asked about effective operations, she said their operations is just like any other medical laboratories and hospital, saying that they don’t only treat emergencies they also treat everybody in any condition.

Recalling their participation at the seven-story building that collapsed some times last month in Freetown, the medical superintendent said though it was tough for them but as medical practitioner one need to take out the emotional aspect of the human life and do the job to save people’s lives especially the little girl that was discovered under the debris three days after the building had collapsed. She added that the child was treated in the car and later she was taken Choithram hospital and the girl is alive and healthy while thanking the people of Sierra Leone for using of the mobile health clinic.
