The Republic of Guinea has expressed profound thanks and appreciation to President Julius Maada Bio, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh and the entire Government and People of Sierra Leone for the moral and logistical support as a humanitarian response to the recent huge fire incident that claimed several lives and property in the Guinean capital, Conakry, in December 2023.
A thank-you Guinean delegation was received by the Honourable Vice President of Sierra Leone on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio on Friday, 5th January, 2024.
“On behalf of President Mamady Doumbouya, Prime Minister Bernard Goumou led a high-level delegation yesterday in Sierra Leone to thank His Excellency Julius Maada Bio and commend the 15 Sierra Leoneans, including myself, who travelled to Guinea to provide support following the fire incident,” Vice President Jalloh said.
The Vice President noted that he was awarded with a prestigious national award [the Grand Officier de L’ordre National du Kolatier de la République de Guinée] for leading a delegation, delivering medical supplies, deploying medical staff and planning access to petroleum products. It is worth noting that the Vice President did not only lead the Sierra Leonean delegation to Guinea, he was also very instrumental throughout the philanthropic intervention.
Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh was honoured and appreciated at a decoration ceremony which took place at the Foreign Service Academy in Freetown where, according to the Vice President, an agreement was reached to supply fuel to Guinea.
“I am delighted to receive this distinguished award, which is the highest commendation given to foreigners. It also represents Sierra Leone’s solidarity and fraternity to a sister country. On behalf of President Julius Maada Bio, our government and people of Sierra Leone, I thank President Mamady Doumbouya, his government and the people of Guinea for this life time honour. We are ONE PEOPLE!” Vice President Jalloh expressed.
