Highlighting several landmark developments of the Bio presidency, Vice President Juldeh Jalloh said huge resources have been directed toward improving education, causing over three million kids to attend school for free, thereby expanding access to education and more people being enrolled in universities.
“Today we have recruited more teachers and government intends to recruit about four thousand teachers across the country,” he said, noting that this will greatly expand the human resources of the country.
Speaking on health, he said maternal and infant mortality has been reduced drastically with thousands of health workers recruited and more health facilities established across the country, adding that there has been significant increase in midwifery education. He linked the steady decrease in infant and maternal mortality in the country to the improvement in healthcare, establishment of more health facilities and recruitment and training of more health workers, especially midwives.
