Principal magistrate Hadiru Daboh of magistrate court No. 1 committed four accused individuals to the high court for trial in a murder case, on June 19, 2025, The suspects Abubakarr Koroma (23), Abubakarr Vandy (15), Lansana Koroma (52), and Vandy Alusine (59), all fishermen from Segbwema Town face two charges: conspiracy to commit a felony and murder, under Section 1 of the offences against the persons Act 1861, as amended by the Abolition of the death penalty Act 2022.
The alleged crime occurred on Monday, April 21, 2025, in Massahun Village, Nongowa chiefdom, Kenema Judicial district, where the four, alongside unidentified accomplices, are accused of murdering Bintu Sheriff, no pleas were recorded, and the suspects, currently detained at the Kenema Sierra Leone correctional centre, were remanded for trial.
Magistrate Daboh, after meticulously reviewing the prosecution’s evidence and exhibits during the preliminary investigation, ordered the commitment to the high court, the case was prosecuted by police Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa of the Legal and Justice Support department, Kenema police Division, as justice unfolds at this hour, the community awaits the trial’s outcome.
