Magistrate Wilbri Hamida M. John of Magistrate Court No. 2 in Kenema has committed Ishmeal Father Turay, a businessman and national of Guinea-Bissau, to the High Court of Sierra Leone to stand trial for murder.

The accused, a resident of No. 5 Orange Pole, Sokodu New Site, Koidu City in Kono District, is charged with murder contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1 of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2022.

According to testimony from Police Inspector Aiah Mafinda Teh, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, between Lowoma and Borbu villages in Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District, the accused allegedly murdered Ansumana Lamin.

No plea was taken during the proceedings. After reviewing the prosecution’s evidence, Magistrate John ruled that a prima facie case had been established and committed the accused to stand trial before the High Court of Sierra Leone.
