The Mayor of the Freetown Municipality Mrs. Yvonne Aki Sawyerr on Saturday 2nd March 2024 commended Sierra Leone’s Tourism Minister Mrs. Nabeela Farida Tunis and Team for putting heads together to help militating waste disposal on the Aberdeen-Lumely Beach.
Mayor Aki Sawyerr expressed her gratitude to minister Tunis for his initiative to implement the monthly cleaning exercise on the beach as the only Beach in the Western Urban Area which has been attracting foreign visitors for very long time.
In their exchanged of words, Minister Tunis said that, this is part of President Julius Maada Bio’s plan to improve on the Country’s blue economy of which the tourism sector remains a focal point of that.
In addition, Mayor Sawyerr also noted that, she would be pleased to collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism to promote these goals as sanitation is one of the clusters of Municipality goals.
