In the spirit of Ramadan, Director Mohamed Mallam Konto Koroma of the Rainbow Family, in collaboration with the AL-TARMIDHI FOUNDATION OF MALAYSIA IFTAR FOOD PACKS, hosted a grand Iftar gathering in Mile 91. The event brought together 400 families, religious leaders, and community members for an evening dedicated to unity, generosity, and spiritual reflection.
Unlike traditional Iftar gatherings where meals are served, this initiative focused on empowering families by providing them with essential cooking ingredients. Each family received a package containing 10 kg of rice, onions, tomatoes, cooking oil, Maggi cubes, and salt allowing them to prepare nutritious meals in their own homes. The distribution emphasized the core Islamic principles of charity and support for the less fortunate.
Speaking at the event, Director Koroma highlighted the importance of community solidarity, particularly during Ramadan, a month dedicated to reflection, generosity, and gratitude. “Our faith teaches us to care for one another, and in that spirit, we come together not just to share food but to strengthen our bonds and support those in need,” he stated.
The Rainbow Family, under Koroma’s leadership since the 1990s, has been a beacon of philanthropy and social development in Sierra Leone. Over the past three decades, the organization has spearheaded numerous humanitarian initiatives, including educational sponsorships, assistance for underprivileged families, and community development projects. Its longstanding impact continues to inspire young individuals to embrace kindness and service to humanity.
As Ramadan progresses, the need for Iftar provisions and care for the less fortunate remains a priority in fostering compassion within society. Director Koroma’s initiative stands as a testament to the enduring values of generosity and collective support, reinforcing the significance of Islamic charity in uplifting vulnerable communities.
His ongoing commitment to service not only brings immediate relief to those in need but also sets an example for future generations to uphold the spirit of giving and communal responsibility.
