Finda Diana Konomanyi, a leading opposition figure in the All People’s Congress (APC), concluded her nationwide peace tour on Saturday with a heartfelt visit to her home district of Kono. The tour, which aimed at fostering unity within the party following its defeat in the 2023 elections, culminated in a large rally attended by party faithful and local dignitaries.

Former Resident Minister, Eastern Region and now Chairman of the Former Ministers of APC (FOMINA), Karamoh Kabba praised Konomanyi as Kono’s “audacity of hope,” underscoring her unique position not only as a political leader but as a maternal figure devoted to the district’s welfare.

Addressing the crowd in both Krio and the local Kono language, Konomanyi issued a sincere apology for past mistakes made by the party, particularly during the 2023 election period, which saw the APC lose ground. She called on members to forgive these missteps and unite under a common vision to reclaim political success. “Only through unity can we secure victory in 2028,” Konomanyi emphasised, appealing for cohesion within the party ranks.

Expressing gratitude to supporters in Kono and across Sierra Leone, she reiterated that the APC remains the party most committed to Kono’s development. Konomanyi also lamented the ongoing Koidu Holding crisis, which has resulted in significant job and income losses in Koidu City. She urged the company’s management to resume talks with government authorities to resolve the impasse.

In a strong call for peace and solidarity, Konomanyi urged all political stakeholders in Kono to put aside egos and work collectively to ensure APC’s success. She specifically appealed to Dr. Samura Kamara and his supporters to move beyond their electoral justice campaign and unite with the party ahead of the 2028 elections.

Konomanyi’s visit has been widely seen as a vital step toward healing divisions within the APC and mobilising grassroots support ahead of the next electoral cycle.
