Amy Tattor Kallon Tibbie, a young woman who has worked in the office of the president, Dr. Julius Maada Bio and wife was duly elected as paramount chief of Kowa chiefdom in the Moyamba district on the 14th. February 2024. She won a landslide against two other contenders making over 90% of the TA votes in the chiefdom. She is undeterred by detractors and has achieved few milestones which are unprecedented in the history of Kowa chiefdom. A visit was paid by a British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Lissa Chesney who discussed developmental issues with the P. C. ranging from girl child education, women’s rights and empowerment and other challenges facing the chiefdom. And P. C. Amy has vowed ” to follow up on it for the development of her chiefdom.”

Out of her own volution she paid an assessment visit to the health center in the chiefdom and cautioned health officers ” to change the perception of the health center” as people in the chiefdom would rather go to the nearby communities for treatment. She donated two brand new foam mattresses, a bag of rice and condiments. A follow up visit was made to the District Medical Officer in Moyamba to ensure her health center gets the needed attention to help her people. And there is going to be a massive renovation work on the health center very soon to bring it to standard befitting a modern-day health center.

In the history of the chiefdom, a wash facility is going to be installed to make sure the people of Njama, headquarter town of Kowa chiefdom get pure drinking water. A borehole has already been dug and a submersible machine will be installed to pump pure water to the entire Njama town. This venture will go a long way in enhancing the health of the chiefdom people.

Agriculture is another area that the paramount chief has made strides in to compliment the effort of government in its flagship feed salone project. Ahead of the planting season fertilizers, seedlings and some farm equipment have been secured. And a major development in that direction is the planned work on major culverts, bridges and feeder roads to make sure farmers take their goods to the market quick to avoid post – harvest losses which reduces the income of farmers.

Before becoming paramount chief, she had ensured that the chiefdom had a center where the children take the National Primary School Exam (NPSE) which has saved them the bother of working miles to access the examination centre. And finally in communication; there is an improved mobile network due to the intervention of the paramount chief, Amy Tattor Kallon Tibbie 2nd. Speaking to Expo, the P. C. expressed his desire ” to transform the chiefdom as we have lagged behind most chiefdoms in the district.” She said she would rather have preferred to stay ” in her comfort zone and gone for an easy job abroad or in Freetown but the suffering of her people did not permit her to do so.” More seems to be in the pipeline for the people of Kowa chiefdom with Amy Tattor Kallon Tibbie as paramount chief and she is seizing every opportunity and every chance at development to achieve this.
