The Deputy Mayor of Freetown, Kweku Lisk Esq., has on Monday 24th March 2025 reaffirmed the city’s commitment to supporting persons with disabilities by donating 25 bags of rice to the Disabled Wing of the All People’s Congress (APC) party in Western Urban. The donation, made on behalf of himself and the Mayor of Freetown, underscores their dedication to the welfare of vulnerable communities.
During the visit, Deputy Mayor Lisk highlighted the importance of inclusivity and social support, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. He acknowledged the resilience of the APC Disabled Wing and emphasized the respect both he and the mayor hold for the group.
“We recognize the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, and as leaders, we are committed to ensuring that they receive the support they deserve,” Lisk stated. “This donation is a token of our appreciation and solidarity with you, especially during this sacred period.”
In response, Mr. Anthony Kanu, President of the APC Disabled Wing, expressed profound gratitude for the gesture. He commended the Mayor and her Deputy for their continued efforts in championing the cause of people with disabilities.
“This donation is a testament to the unwavering support we have always received from the APC leadership,” Mr. Kanu remarked. “We deeply appreciate this generosity, and it comes at a crucial time when many of our members are in need.”
The donation marks yet another effort by the Freetown City Council to engage with marginalized groups and promote social welfare initiatives. As Ramadan continues, the act of giving serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and unity in building a more inclusive society.
