On 14 August 2025, Magistrate Hamida M. John of Kenema Magistrate Court No. 2 sentenced Juana Dakowa to 12 months’ imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema for larceny. The conviction follows an incident on 10 August 2025 at Wanjama checkpoint, Small-Bo Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District, Eastern Province, where Dakowa stole US$200, equivalent to NLe 4,800, from a Golden Dragon vehicle (registration ATF 721), the property of Ibrahim Barrie. Dakowa pleaded guilty and sought leniency but was sentenced to one year in prison.

In a separate case, Juana Korgbaka, aged 31, of C-Curve, Blama Road, Kenema, was arraigned before the resident magistrate for fraudulent conversion under Section 20(1)(iv)(b) of the Larceny Act 1916. On 24 December 2024, in C-Curve, Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District, Korgbaka fraudulently converted NLe 500, entrusted to him by Kamal M. Barrie for delivery to Komeh, for his own use.
