Magistrate Mustapha Briama-Jah of Magistrate Court No.2 in Kenema has sentenced one Alieu Kanesie of Bo City to four years imprisonment for larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to prosecution, the accused on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Limba Koryagbema, Kenema City, did steal by trick one Android Infinix mobile phone valued one thousand, eight hundred New Leones (NLe 1,800/00) property of Foday Koroma. He pleaded guilty and begged for mercy and was sentenced to four years imprisonment.

In another news, one Idrisa Farma of Komende Station a village in Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District in the Eastern Province stole one cluster of plantain valued one hundred New Leones (NLe 1 00/00), property of Salia Momoh. He pleaded guilty and begged for mercy and was sentenced to twelve (12) months imprisonment.

Before the verdict, Magistrate Brima-Jah having heard from the prosecution and with the record of the accused after having pleaded for mercy, the Magistrate did not impose an alternate but to give a custodian sentence on the grounds that criminal conduct must not be entertained within the Kenema Jurisdiction. Magistrate Braima-Jah therefore sentenced the accused, Idrisa Farma to12months imprisonment.

The two cases were prosecuted by police constables 13576 Sillah Fatmata and 13536 Moseray attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department at the Kenema Police Station.
