Twenty-five-years-old Brima Kallon alias Colabo, a bike rider of Heigbema Section in Kenema, has been sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment by the High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Abubakarr Sannoh of the High Court in Kenema for committing offences ranging from conspiracy to robbery, contrary to section 23(2) of the Larceny Act 1916.
The accused, Brima Kallon, on October 1st, 2024 at Kenema City in Kenema District in the Eastern province, conspired with unknown persons to commit an offence to wit robbery.
The accused on the same date and place, robbed one Abubakarr Kamara one blue-black TVS motorcycle with registration number AUV 923 valued at Twenty-Two Thousand, Five Hundred New Leones (NLe 22,500/00), property of Abubakarr Kamara. He pleaded guilty and begged for mercy and was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre in Kenema.
Before the judgement, State Counsel, Anthony Kamara, who doubled as the customary law officer in Kenema, applied that the motorcycle with Registration Number AUV 923 be restored to the rightful owner, Abubakarr Kamara, citing Section 59(1) of the Criminal Procedures Act 1965. Having heard the State Counsel proceeding in the matter, Justice Abubakarr Sannoh ordered that the motor bike be restored to the rightful owner, Abubakarr Kamara.
The accused, Brima Kallon, was represented by defence counsel, Patrick Kamara of Legal Aid Board in Kenema.
